Findings -blogging on the other side

As you can see, there's finally a blogroll on the left side of the page. Most of them are for some reasons American bloggers. Keep in mind that the classification is just indicative -maybe wrong for few of them, some have however multiple roles in the music world (composer/ musicologist/performer for example...). You'll find lots of interesting subjects over there, for example managers are writing about audience development and problems they're facing, musicians about their careers or work, composers about... well, whatever composers care of... You might get even lost in some of them.

Anyway, here are my 2 precious findings in this quest. Two reports concerning music by two prominent foundations published the last 8 months.

The first one, The Search for Shining Eyes was published last September by the Knight Foundation; you'll find it (pdf format) here.

The second, Involving Youth in Nonprofit Arts Organizations was published this April by the Hewlett Foundation; you'll find it (as well in pdf) here.

Otherwise, nothing special right now here in Helsinki, except of course the Eurovision song contest -an invention for spending money while entertaining the audiences of poor or small countries... And of course, Ralf Gothóni is leaving the Academy (but you can read about it in my other blog here). Until then, tata!

PS: Alex Freeman's concert went very well, the audience liked it and the one critic who was there also favored it. You're probably going to hear The River Between in the future (or about it), especially in the US, since both the composer (Alex Freeman) and the conductor (David Searle) are moving back to US next fall.

buzz it!
